Your chance to get your camera or smart phone out and take photos in your community to promote awarness of loss, grief, hope and reslience.
5 August 2017.
10.00am: Drop into the Western Plains Cultural Centre located at 76 Wingewarra Street, Dubbo to receive your mission for the Photo Treasure Hunt. You will be given 4 themes that you and need to take 4 photos, one for each theme (see below for themes from previous years).
1.00pm: Drop back to Western Plains Cultural Centre and download your photos or email them to firstname.lastname@example.org.
6.00pm: Your chosen photos will be printed and displayed in our gallery at the Western Plains Cultural Centre. Join us for refreshments. Awards and prizes for best individual themes and an overall winner will be presented at 7.00pm.
Loss, Growth, Unite and Heal were our our 4 themes in which we asked people to take a one photograph for each category for our 2nd annual Photo Treasure Hunt in Dubbo. In 2016 the NALAG Photo Treasure Hunt held during Grief Awareness Month (August) attracted 35 entire on 20th August 2016s. Our pop up exhibition that evening was a huge sucess. Entries were judged by Jen Cowley and the winners photos were featured in the Dubbo Weekender.
Hope, Loss, Love, Foverever. These were our our 4 themes in which we asked people to take a one photograph for each category for our 1st annual Photo Treasure Hunt. In 2015 we initiated the 1st Photo Treasure Hunt during Grief Awareness Month (August). We had a great response with over 15 entries to the competition and some fantastic photos entered, We finished the day off with a gallery exhibiion of all photos, our lucky door prize and the announcement of our winners. Judged by Jen Cowley from the Dubbo Weekender, the photo winners were also feaured in Weekender.
In 2016 we will run the Photo Treasure Hunt again during Grief Awareness Month (August). With the themes and categories kept hidden until lthe day of the cmpetition, partcipants have just 4 ours to go out into their community and capture 4 photograpgs, one representing each theme, submitting them by the close of the competition in time for us to print and display in our pop up gallery.
