NALAG Centre for Loss & Grief, Dubbo T he NALAG Centre for Loss & Grief Dubbo outreaches to the following areas: Dubbo, Wellington, Narromine, Coonabarabran, Trangie, Nyngan & Gilgandra. The NALAG Centre in Dubbo is the principle office for the NALAG (NSW) Inc Association.
Services The NALAG Centre for Loss & Grief Dubbo provides individual grief counselling and or grief support. We also promote awareness through education in the area of loss, grief, bereavement and trauma.
Grief Support Individual grief counselling and/or support is available at our Centre. Please see contact details below. The NALAG Centre is supported by paid staff (Manager, Administration & Counsellor) and by Volunteer Grief Support People. All Volunteer Grief Support people are trained in Grief Support by NALAG (NSW) Inc. These Volunteers provide Grief Support, not counselling and have completed the NALAG approved training program. Education The Centre is committed to supporting education and training to volunteers, support workers, students, professionals and the wider public. The centre attracts both local and national speakers from various disciplines to educate in the area of loss and grief. For more information on upcoming education click here.
Seasons for Growth Seasons for Growth is a program which explores the effects of change, loss and grief for children, adolescents and adults. The program helps us to understand that life is always changing, that one follows the other and there are certain things we can do to accept and deal with “the seasons in our life”. Seasons for Growth is an educational program and not counselling. For more information on the Seasons for Growth Program please click here.
Blue Healers Depression Program The Blue Healers is a program to help people manage depression, stress and anxiety and develop learning strategies for coping. The program runs for six weeks (one two hour session per week) and involves topics such as What is Depression, Stress and Anxiety, What about medications?, Exercise & Relaxation, Sleep & Diet, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) (or changing negative thinking), Problem Solving and Self Esteem. The Program is run in a group setting and is based on psycho-education not counseling. For more information on this program please contact us.
Bereavement Buddy The Bereavement Buddy is a program to help people who have experienced the loss of a loved one. The program runs for 6 or 12 weeks (1 x 2.5 hours session per week for 6 or 12 weeks) and involves education and group support components. Healing Days/Remembering Ceremonies Healing Days and Remembrance Ceremonies are conducted on an annual basis. Members of the public are invited to attend the ceremonies and reflect.
NALAG Suicide Network (NSN) The NALAG Centre for Loss & Grief in Dubbo has established the NALAG Suicide Network (NSN). This network is dedicated to promoting awareness, providing training, intervention and support to those affected by or seeking information on suicide. By Referral Agencies and community services can refer individuals by completing a Referral Form and faxing to our Centre on 02 6884 9100. Download our Referral Form.
In Person The NALAG Centre in Dubbo has an office building with counseling rooms and is located in Welchman Street, Dubbo NSW. For a map please click here. The Centre is open Tuesday to Thursday from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Cost NALAG is a not for profit organisation. The NALAG Centre for Loss & Grief Dubbo provides grief and loss support to all people regardless of financial circumstances and provides these services completely FREE of charge. The Blue Healers Depression Program, the Bereavement Buddy Program and the Seasons for Growth Program is also offered FREE to suitable participants. Appointments are by prior arrangement only. The NALAG Centre is not a crisis Centre and all emergencies should be directed to the appropriate agency or to the outpatient unit of your local Hospital.
