Members of the National Association for Loss and Grief’s Hunter branch welcomed community members and organisations to its Spring Luncheon on Sunday 17 September 2023 at Raymond Terrace Bowling Club. Volunteers Rhonda White (NALAG Hunter Branch Coordinator), Jennifer Perino (NALAG NSW Deputy President) and Lyndsay Lowe (NALAG Hunter Member) showcased the organisation’s grief support services, resources and training opportunities, and shared information on how NALAG can assist people in the community experiencing loss, grief, trauma and change.

The organisation currently provides a free grief support service throughout the region via face-to-face sessions, as well as telephone and online appointments, and coordinates numerous community mental health awareness events and grief education workshops each year. The local branch is always welcoming new members to help expand its capabilities and services in the Hunter.

Branch Coordinator, Rhonda White, expressed her thanks to all who attended the luncheon, including representatives from the office of Jenny Aitcheson MP, Hunter Melanoma Foundation, Australian Federation of Civil Celebrants and Volunteers for Palliative Care Inc.

“It was a really great day for all involved. The day was well-received, and the community has shown a lot of interest in the work of NALAG, particularly our free grief support service, but also our educational and community awareness functions,” said Ms. White.

Lucky door prizes were awarded to several attendees, courtesy of generous sponsors Mayfair Jewellers, Tamburlaine Organic Wines and Lyndsay Lowe (Life & Beyond Journal).

“We’re so grateful for the support we’ve received from local businesses and organisations in the Hunter Region, including our amazing lucky door sponsors, and we’re very excited to continue our existing community partnerships whilst collaborating with a number of new organisations throughout the area in the months ahead”, Ms. White said.

The branch is planning to host similar events in other areas of the Hunter and Mid Coast regions on NSW in 2024… Stay tuned!
