The Grief of Pregnancy Termination | 1 Day Workshop
Workshop Overview
This one‑day training is designed for professionals who support people following a pregnancy termination—whether by choice, medical necessity, or due to complex personal circumstances. The workshop is trauma‑aware, inclusive, and grounded in best‑practice principles for grief‑informed care.
What You’ll Learn
- The wide range of emotional responses that may follow a pregnancy termination, including grief, relief, ambivalence, and mixed or conflicting feelings.
- The ways stigma, silence, cultural influences, and personal context shape how people experience and express termination‑related grief.
- Compassionate, trauma‑informed approaches to supporting clients without judgement.
- Practical tools for assessment, gentle inquiry, reflective listening, and recognising when referral is appropriate.
- Strategies for maintaining practitioner wellbeing, healthy boundaries, and ethical practice.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Identify the emotional, psychological, and relational complexities surrounding pregnancy termination‑related grief.
- Offer sensitive, inclusive, and confident support using trauma‑informed principles.
- Use language and communication approaches that validate and honour each person’s unique experience.
- Apply practical tools to create safe, ethical, and supportive environments for clients and recognise when additional support is required.
