Life and Death Cafe | Mudgee

What’s it about?

The Life & Death Café is a welcoming, safe and respectful space where people come together to have open conversations about death, dying, grief, loss and the meaning of life.

Over a coffee and something delicious to eat, participants are invited to share thoughts, experiences, questions and perspectives in a relaxed discussion.

There is no agenda, no presentations and no expectation to speak if you would rather simply listen.

The conversations are guided by the interests of those attending and may explore topics such as planning for the end of life, funeral wishes, legacy, ageing, caregiving, loss, spirituality, cultural beliefs, or simply what it means to live well knowing that life is finite.

The Life & Death Café is not a grief support group, counselling service or therapy session. Instead, it provides an opportunity for honest, respectful and often uplifting conversations that encourage greater awareness of death, reduce fear and stigma, and help people embrace life with greater intention and appreciation.

Whether the discussion is thoughtful, emotional, humorous or philosophical, every conversation is welcomed with kindness, curiosity and respect.

Who is it for?

The Life & Death Café is open to anyone aged 18 years and over who is interested in having meaningful conversations about death, dying and life.

You do not need to be grieving, facing a life-limiting illness or have experienced a recent loss to attend. Many people simply come because they are curious, want to plan ahead, support someone they care about, or enjoy conversations that explore the bigger questions in life.

People from all backgrounds, beliefs and cultures are welcome. Every perspective is valued, and there are no right or wrong answers—just an opportunity to connect with others in a supportive, inclusive environment.

Whether you choose to share your story or simply listen to others, you'll leave with new perspectives, greater understanding and perhaps a renewed appreciation for living well.
